Landscape Gardeners in Marlow
Expert garden landscaping for exceptional outdoor living
At Thames Valley Landscapes, we excel in building gardens that enhance how you live outdoors. In Marlow, that might mean creating a stylish courtyard tucked behind the Georgian High Street, a tranquil riverside garden edging the Thames, or a sprawling outdoor sanctuary nestled in the Chiltern Hills. Whatever the setting, every project is delivered with exceptional workmanship and uncompromising attention to detail.
Most of our projects are medium to large in scale, seamlessly combining structural hard landscaping with considered planting, architectural lighting and bespoke features. By carefully assessing your property’s character, site levels and surrounding environment, we design cohesive schemes that feel like a natural extension of your home.
Whether you wish to reimagine an established plot, master a challenging sloping site, or build an effortless space for entertaining and relaxation, we bring the same meticulous approach to every project.

Why Marlow homeowners choose us
Unmatched local know-how
Two decades of work in this corner of Buckinghamshire has taught us how varied Marlow gardens can be. From the heavy, flinty clay ground around Marlow Bottom and Little Marlow, to the low-lying river soils near Bourne End and Hurley – plus the specific demands of local conservation areas – we understand the distinct challenges of the landscape. We know which materials withstand winter river rises and how to execute builds on exposed hillside plots. This practical insight informs every build decision we make.
Seamless full-scale builds
From family gardens to quiet riverside retreats, we construct outdoor spaces where every element works in complete harmony. Whether reshaping site levels, building heavy structural retaining walls, laying porcelain or natural stone terracing, or executing complex timberwork, we focus on precision and detail across the entire site. The result is a beautifully constructed landscape that feels as if it has always belonged there.
Collaborating with garden designers
Many of our larger Marlow projects begin with a professional garden designer’s plans. We are fully experienced in working from detailed construction drawings and complete design packages, maintaining open communication with designers throughout the build to ensure their vision is executed accurately on site.
Our landscaping process
First, we meet you (or your garden designer) to understand what you would like to achieve. For larger gardens, or where you’d like some design inspiration, we can also recommend a trusted garden designer to help shape your ideas.
We take time to listen carefully to your requirements and offer practical advice, creative input and suggestions based on our experience. We will also assess the scope of the project and review any existing garden design plans.
Once we have a clear understanding of your brief, we provide a no-obligation quotation. We aim to return this within two weeks, along with an idea of project length.
As a general guide, our landscaping projects usually last anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months depending on their scale and complexity.
At this stage, we consider both the aesthetic and practical aspects of your garden, ensuring the design works for how you want to use the space day to day.
Drawing on our in-depth knowledge of materials and years of hands-on experience, we can help refine ideas or provide an outline concept where required. Alternatively, we are equally comfortable working closely alongside a professional garden designer to bring a fully developed plan to life.
We also provide a clear breakdown of costs and an outline programme of works.
From groundworks to final finishing touches, we manage the entire construction process to ensure a smooth, stress-free experience.
This includes coordinating the build, managing external contractors, and working closely with garden designers, architects and builders to ensure everything comes together seamlessly.
Each project is overseen by an experienced project manager and on-site team leader, with all team members fully trained in health and safety, machinery operation and first aid to ensure safe, professional delivery at every stage.
As your garden nears completion, we focus on the final details that bring the whole scheme together. From planting and finishing touches through to a full review of the completed space.
We ensure everything is finished to the highest standard and that you are completely happy with the result before handover.
Throughout the entire process you will have a clear point of contact and regular updates, giving you peace of mind from start to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
If we haven't answered your question in our FAQs just give us a call - 01628 629720. We're more than happy to provide help and advice on any forthcoming projects.
We typically focus on medium to large landscaping projects, but we're happy to discuss smaller schemes too — particularly where they form part of a wider vision for your garden. Get in touch and we can advise honestly on whether we're the right fit.
Absolutely, we regularly work alongside professional garden designers and are experienced in delivering complex designs with accuracy and attention to detail.
Yes — outdoor pools and spas feature in a number of our larger projects, including a recent build here in Marlow. We work alongside specialist pool contractors and bring the pool, surrounding decking or paving and planting together as one design, so it reads as part of the garden rather than something added on afterwards.
A lot of the gardens we work on around Marlow sit on a real gradient, particularly the closer you get to the Chilterns. So dealing with a difficult slope is something we're very used to. We build retaining walls and multi-level terraces to break a steep site into a series of usable, level spaces, each one connected by steps or paths so the whole garden still feels joined up rather than like separate tiers. You can see this approach on one of our recent multi-level terrace projects.
This varies with scale and complexity, but most complete garden transformations in Marlow run from several weeks to a few months. We'll give you a realistic timeframe as part of your quote, and keep you updated throughout the build.
We cover Marlow and the surrounding area, including Marlow Bottom, Little Marlow, Bourne End, Well End and the Chiltern villages nearby. If you're just outside this area, please still get in touch as we take on projects across Buckinghamshire and Berkshire more widely.
Yes. We work on properties close to the river in areas including Bourne End and Hurley and understand some of the additional considerations that can come with these locations. Ground conditions, drainage, levels and flood-conscious design can all influence how a project is approached, and we'll take these factors into account during the planning and build process.
With over 20 years' experience, BALI accreditation and a reputation built on meticulous attention to detail, we combine local knowledge of Marlow and the surrounding Chilterns with the skill to deliver complete, high-quality garden transformations from concept through to completion.
We work closely with homeowners, garden designers and other professionals to make sure every element is properly considered and expertly constructed — creating outdoor spaces that complement the property and are built to last.
