A landscape gardener is a professional who creates, and maintains outdoor spaces like residential gardens, public parks, and commercial properties. They work with hard landscaping materials, plants, soil and water to make outdoor areas attractive, accessible and usable.
To achieve this they work with other professionals such as garden designers and building contractors, and co-ordinate activity with suppliers.
Their main responsibilities are to:
- Plan: create plans for new spaces or work from designs created by others.
- Plant: plant trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Maintain: prune trees, trim hedges, and mow lawns.
- Build: construct walls, paths, patios, driveways and garden features.
- Irrigate: install irrigation systems like sprinklers, drip irrigation and soaker hoses.
- Improve drainage: level terrain or install drainage channels to control and conserve rainfall and reduce erosion.
- Advise: provide clients with advice on how to care for their outdoor spaces.

Yes, we often work with garden designers especially on larger garden transformation projects. If you have already appointed a garden designer we're happy to work with them to help define the scope of the landscaping needs of your project, such as hard landscaping materials to be used and timeframes. Or if you need to appoint a garden designer we can also help in recommending one for you.
