CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

We were very proud to be asked by renowned sculptor James Doran-Webb to work in tandem with him in on his trade stand exhibit for the Chelsea Flower Show.

We were given a basic brief and layout and started designing a mythical wild garden to compliment his natural driftwood sculptures.

We selected meadow style plants such as rosebay willow, red campion, saw wort, verbascum, foxgloves, cow parsley, hedera, cuckoo and lots of grasses.

landscape plan for Chelsea Flower Show

Working at Chelsea puts you under a lot of pressure due to the strict time scale, but with lots of planning what seems impossible can be achieved in less than 1 week!

After the logistical headache of erecting the stone gazebo and installing the dragon on top, we then delicately placed the rest of the sculptures in place.

We then moved onto laying the marble stepping stone path before building and planting the impressive looking living wall.

Finally it was time to start planting like crazy! Over 1300 plants in total; over 20 per square metre!

Working at one of the worlds most prestigious gardening exhibitions on a project such as this not only showcases our skills and creativity, but also demonstrates our abilities to work out logistical problems with forward planning.

We are extremely pleased that James and Thames Valley Landscapes were awarded 5 stars for the garden, which is the highest accolade possible for a trade stand.

Onwards and upwards!!
